Have you ever noticed that little sweet voice girls use to speak to their baby dolls? Or how about how they instantly know to cradle their baby doll? This is because through imaginative doll play children are able to demonstrate nurturing ways. Doll play is very important because it provides children a way to explore and develop new ways of thinking. In particular, it will provide a way for them to make real life scenarios. Additionally, it's a great way to teach them how to share.

And who says dolls are just for girls! My daughter loves to give her dolly hugs and lovins, but my boys like to pretend it's their baby sister. I can just tell by the way they interact with the baby doll, they are going to make wonderful daddies when they grow up. I cannot brag enough about this set! The cradle was actually very easy to assemble as it was ready to use within only 10 minutes. The cradle is unlike any other because it actually includes a star nightlight that plays music (requires 2 triple A batteries, included). This, combined with the fact that it also contains the baby doll and all of her accessories, makes this set a must have toy this holiday season.

I have always enjoyed a piece of coffee cake to compliment my coffee, so of course I was excited to try a cake from My Grandma's of England. While browsing their selection of cakes, I was very impressed by their wonderful variety of flavors including Chocolate Chip, and Cappaccinno, just to name a couple! All of the cakes looked so good that it was hard to choose just one, so I let my son's decide for me. They chose the Granny Smith Apple Cake.

As soon as it arrived, I took it out of the box and the first thing I noticed was how heavy it was. They offer two sizes: Small (8" 1.75 LBs) and Large (10" 3.1 LBS), I received the Large size. Because it was so large, I decided to share it with my family. Before we ever sliced it, we immediately noticed how moist it looked. The cake tasted delicious, and super moist. Even my brother liked it, which says alot because he has always been very picky.

This cake would make an excellent gift, or cake to serve during the holidays. The large cake is ideal for serving crowds, as it serves 16-20 people.

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to have a chance to feature Nickelodeon in my holiday gift guide. I have been a huge fan of Nickelodeon my entire life, and now I have passed my love for Nickelodeon to my four children. Their morning isn't complete without some Nickelodeon cartoons, which seems to be an every day routine in our house. One of their favorite cartoons is Dora The Explorer, which brings me to my first review. The Skate & Spin Dora & Boots, which you may have seen at your local toy store.

At our household we love Dora The Explorer because not only is it entertaining, but it also helps teach our children Spanish. It encourages children to interact with the show as they help solve puzzles relating to riddles. It's a great cartoon that can be watched by both my daughter and my two youngest sons, which is also a plus. Because my children are so fond of Dora The Explorer, they were super excited to review the Skate & Spin Dora & Boots. It's definitely a great gift for any little Dora The Explorer lover on your holiday shopping list!

The Skate & Spin Dora & Boots is just as busy and energetic as your little one. My daughter is at the age where she is enthralled with anything that moves, talks, or plays music. Guess what, the Dora toy does all of that! Plus, she looks cute while doing so! Both Dora and Boots are dressed in a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads which help teach children the importance of wearing protective gear while rollerskating.

This toy offers two different settings:
1. Free Play Mode - She talks and plays music. In this mode children can control the movements.
2. Active Setting - She skates in three different ways.

Boots is a fun edition to the set and really makes it that much more fun. You can choose to attach him to Dora or the two figures can just hold hands. My children enjoy watching Dora and Boots skate all around on our tile floor. It's so cute to watch my daughter sway back and fourth to the music. All in all it's a fun toy that would make an excellent Christmas or Birthday gift. I do have to mention it's a bit on the loud side, but other than that, it's awesome!

If you were a child of the 90's (like myself), then you more than likely remember playing with Gak. Just to refresh your memory, it was the thick compound that came in a clear star shaped container. When you squeezed it in the container it made a funny farting like sound. I was excited to see that Gak has recently made a comeback and was also excited to share all of the Gak fun with my children, which brings me to my second review.

Smell My Gak was originally released in 1996. I remember how much fun my friends and I had playing with all of our scented Gak. Scents like Peperoni Pizza, Ocean Breeze, and Buttered Popcorn were all the rage. Smell My Gak is now a reality in the toy land once again, but only with different scents including everything from sweet scents, to not so sweet scents. The new scents include: Cupcake, Garbage, Bacon, Stinky Sneaker, Popsicle, and Flowers.

I received the Smell My Gak Flowers scented Gak to review. The first thing I noticed was that they no longer come in star shaped containers, but instead in shapes that match their scent. I have to admit their container are very cute. I decided the sweet scent would be better suited for my daughter, while a not so sweet scent would be more appropriate for my sons, so I picked up the Garbage Smell My Gak at Toys R Us. The flower had a light floral scent to it, while the garbage smelled just like the plain Gak scent. I remember the scents being more stronger when I was younger, but I guess it's a good thing being that the Garbage scent wasn't strong.

Smell My Gak would make an excellent stocking stuffer for any child ages 6 years and up this holiday season.

Packed full of winter fun the Pinypon Snow Ski Lodge is an excellent choice for a Christmas gift this holiday season. We know this first hand because we were lucky enough to receive one to review. At first glance the set looked similar to other toy sets; however, after playing around with it, I soon realized it was so much more exciting than a regular playset!

Like other playsets, you will need to assemble the playset, which can actually be fun if you make a game of it. My children had fun putting it together, and especially placing the fun stickers on it. Once it was assembled it was time to have some more fun. You can literally experience all of your favorite winter activities with the Pinypon Snow Ski Lodge. I say this because the set offers so many exciting activities including a ski lift, riding a snowmobile, skiing, build a snowman, iceskating, snowboarding, and then a ski lodge to "warm up" in afterwards, using the little fireplace, included in the lodge play set. The set includes three figures, so that you can use lots of imaginative playtime using the set.

Although the set offers so many activities, I have to say my children's favorite is the REAL Iceskating Rink. My children may not be able to iceskate in real life, but they can sure pretend to using the figures and their fully functioning ice rink! To create the rink, you simply fill the tray that is included with the set up with water and freeze it. In addition to all the activities kids will also enjoy using it for fashion too. Because the set includes three figures, it allows you to mix and match their outfits.

In addition to the playset we also received a Pinypon Snow Adventure Car & Tow, which makes a great asset to the playset. This fun toy enjoyable toy includes a Pinypon friend dressed in winter attire, pet, skis, snowboard, luggage, and more.

My children has spent hours playing with this set, which doesn't surprise me because all of the activities this playset offers. Usually my children get bored with their toys after a while, but definitely not this one.

Turbo Chore Kit

You may remember the recent post I published about Turbo, which included a giveaway and some awesome printables including mazes, bookmarks, and a connect the dot activity. The giveaway has come to an end but the Turbo fun is still in full effect. Our family recently received some fun Turbo Chore Kits to get our little speed machines excited about doing their chores! But before I fill you in about our Turbo Chore Kits, let me tell you a bit about the movie first, just in case you missed my past post.

Turbo, is a fast paced comedy-adventure that is a must-watch for your entire family! It includes an amazing voice cast including the famous Snoop Dog and Samuel L. Jackson, just to name a couple. This cute little movie features a snail (the voice of Ryan Reynolds), who has always dreamed of being a professional car racer. After sucking in some fumes, he just might be the fastest snail in town, and who knows, perhaps he may even win the Indy 500 race!

After watching the movie basically every day for two weeks straight, my children have been in overdrive mode. Every time they watch the movie it hypes them up and get's them all engertic. A great way to put their energy to use is by doing chores. And what funner way than to do them using Turbo Chore Kits. The past few days my kids have been racing around the house to complete their chores.

We time them using their stopwatch and the child that completes their chores the fastest receives a special treat.

They are able to keep up with their chores using their chore kits, which inspires them to continue to clean on a daily basis and helps keep them organized. Plus, they feel accomplished when they get to place their special stickers on their charts as they complete their chores. We use the notebooks and the pullback turbo action figures as reward playtime after they complete their chores. And guess what's on our fridge? Yep, you guessed it - Turbo Word Magnets!

My kids really enjoy the chore kits, especially my three year old who is beginning to believe he is actually Turbo! A special thanks to DreamWorks Animation for providing us with these exciting chore kits!

I selected to review the Solar Rover for my oldest son because I thought it would make a great science experiment. It requires full contact light for the motor to work, but it has been cold gloomy weather lately, so we haven't yet had a chance to try it out. Once we have a sunny day we will be able to assemble the unique solar motorized modules which will be powered solely by the sun. How exciting is it that a simple recycled soda can, is able to teach your child how sunlight is converted into energy.

As a member of She Speaks, I was recently selected to review a fabulous Lancome product called DREAMTONE. I typically purchase a variety of skin care products and brands, so I am somewhat familiar with Lancome, although I have never purchased the DreamTone product before. But the simple fact that it was a Lancome brand product really excited me because Lancome is a very trusted and well known brand. I couldn't wait for it to arrive so I could try it out!

They learn something far beyond what they would have though. Christmas comes in different forms no matter if it's love from friends or even from a clumsy minty-green pony!

The story within the movie teaches children a great value. The importance of friendship and that Christmas is not just about one thing or another. The most important thing during Christmas is the importance of love, friendship, and sharing. I always appreciate cartoons that share positive lessons and this definitely fits that category. Happy Birthday to my son!

Today my second born son turns 5. It's such a bittersweet day for me because my baby is no longer a baby. Even though, of course he will always be a baby in my eyes.
