Holiday Gift Guide 2011 Day 5 - The Help DVD

HELP YOURSELF TO
THE HELP

ON DVD &Blu-ray Beginning DECEMBER 6TH.

In the summer time while I was at a spa getting the "treatment" I wore a shirt I had won from a giveaway and on the shirt it read "The Help".  The woman doing my hair had asked me if I saw the movie and when I replied "no",  she told me It was definitely a movie I should go see.  She went on to tell me that the movie really made her emotional,  and she even started to crying during the movie.

After that I had a lot of other people also encouraged me to watch the movie,  but I never ended up getting a chance to go see it in theatre,  so I decided to wait until it came out on DVD.   So of course I couldnt pass up reviewing a copy of "The Help" on DVD & Blu-ray Combo Disc Set!

Our Thoughts:
This movie includes inspiration and power as corageous maids take place in a writing project to expose their life as "The Help".  The movie begins with a woman interviewing one of the maids - Viola Davis who plays Aibleen Clark.  Aibleen's mother was a maid and her grandmother was a house slave so she followed in her families foot steps becoming a maid as well. Throughout the movie it exposes the life of the maids back in the South in the 1960's,  as it follows Aibleen and her group of maid friends.

Although this movie brought tears to my face at times It also made me laugh too!  There are a couple of funny times during the movie where one of the maids gets back at one of the women and it is very humurous! "The Help" is one of those movies that make you not want to get up because you don't want to miss any of the movie.   It certainly makes a great addition to our DVD collection and a great movie to give as a Christmas gift.

About The Movie:
The Help stars basically an all female cast made up of maids and their supervisors.  Two of the maids come together to work on a writing project that could put them all at risk because it breaks societys rules.  This movie Stars Emma Stone as "Skeeter" a woman that goes against the opinions of others in her town,  including her friends and family,  to make her voice be heard. Along with the help of Aibleen Clark and Minny Jackson,  her writing project will succeed in voicing her opinion to everyone else in the town.

This empowering story is as empowering as it is inspirational. With powerful performances and an amazing cast,  thsi movie will be sure to fill you with humor and hope.  Overall, it teaches the ability to teach change.
