THE WOODCARVER
Released on DVD March 13, 2012
Get ready for a heart warming family Chrisitian movie - The Woodcarver.
About the Movie:
Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home. When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges. While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration that Matthew destroyed. Ernest has become something of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church. Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church's beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God and in life.
The Woodcarver is a touching movie that is a great watch for your entire family(even though it is rated PG). I found it especially interesting that John Ratzenberger (you may remember him from Cheers) played in this movie. I hadn't seen him in years on the screen and he was definitely one of my favorite characters on Cheers. The movie teaches some great values including putting god first in your marriage, always doing the right thing, teaching forgivness, and asking yourself in situations "What would Jesus do". This movie certainly conveyed the messages with style and grace unlike many other faith based movies on the market.
Overall, it teaches that faith and family is more important than things you can buy. Keep your mind and heart open and you can certainly learn some valuable lessons from this heart felt Christian based movie!
