Elf on a Shelf Review (Coppins Hallmark Gifts)

Ever wonder how Santa knows if you have been naughty or nice? I wondered that myself many times when I was young and my parents explanation just never explained it good enough!  Too bad we didn't have an Elf on a Shelf because I would have definitely believed his explanation!

Elf on a Shelf is a fun family tradition that revolves around a sweet little elf who sports a cheery bright red  suit, decorated with a white collar.  According to the book, the Elf on a Shelf watches your family during the day to see if they have been naughty or nice and then fly's to the North Pole at night to report to the big white bearded man, known as no other than Santa himself!  Each day your child opens their eyes, they are greeted with a great big surprise!  The elf is hiding in a different place, without leaving a trace!

The only rule is that the elf must not be touched,  or his magic will disappear!  The kids can whisper their Christmas wishes to the elf; however, he cannot move. The day before Christmas the elf will fly back to Santa until next year, but have no fear, he will be back again the following year!

Elf on a Shelf has quickly become one of our favorite family traditions thanks to Coppins Hallmark Gifts. You have probably seen the Elf on a Shelf all over the internet or heard all of the gossip about it!  I know I sure have, I have seen it all over my social media friends pages, the internet, and even at the store.  Elf on a Shelf has become quite the popular tradition and we are happy to join in on this special tradition.

Coppins Hallmart Gifts provided me with a Light Skinned Boy Elf on a Shelf, which included a special keepsake box, elf, and children's book.  The children's book explains the exact tradition of the elf on a shelf, in a fun poem type rhyming way that your children will enjoy.  It is now their favorite Christmas themed books. I know this for a fact because they have been requesting I read it to them every night!

They named the magical little elf "Elfwin", how cute is that, right!  Each morning they wake up to go searching for "Elfwin".  You never know where that sneaky little elf is going to appear!  Sometimes it's in the fireplace, sometimes it's in the Christmas tree,  and one day it was even on the dining room ceiling fan!  I especially appreciate the fact that they have been on their best behavior lately because they don't want the Elf to give Santa a bad report!  They know they can't touch the elf or his magic goes away, so I don't have to worry about our special little elf getting lost by little hands!

The day before Christmas, "Elfwin" will return to Santa, but that doesn't mean he won't return again next year and every year after that!  It is a fun new tradition that we have welcomed and will welcome into our household each your during the holiday season!

In addition to the Light Skinned Boy that I received, the Elf on a Shelf is also available in a Light Skinned Girl, and a Dark Skinned Boy. You may also purchase the Elf on a Shelf Activity Book and the Elf on a Shelf DVD.

I've never really understood the whole Elf on the Shelf tradition, but it sounds fun.

I've never heard of it, I'm glad your family enjoys the tradition and I'm sure it's very popular-but honestly I find it kind of creepy, especially having him 'appear' in different places and he reminds me of a toy from a scary movie lol-sorry :)

Some of those elves can pull some really cute pranks. Maybe we will see some your Elfwin does.

I've been seeing postings of photos containing this elf all over the internet and never understood what the deal was with it, I guess I'm living under a rock! My boys have recently asked for one and since its pretty late maybe next year. Unfortunately this might be our last "true" Christmas as our boys are advancing in age and asking many questions.

What a clever idea....

I ask my StepDaughter and she said they have an Elf that they sit on a shelf. I don't think she has it do any crazy shenanigans that I hve seen done on other blogs

I haven't done this myself (maybe next year!) but I'm loving all the pictures of the adventures other people's elves are getting up to!
