Lalaloopsy Party Ideas!

As you may know we are loopsy over Lalaloopsy's over here at t Mizz Review Lady - Mommy Reviews! This past October we even did my daughters 1st birthday in a Lalaloopsy theme.

We rented a hall for my daughters birthday which meant we needed a lot of centerpieces to decorate all the tables. We had already spent over $1,000 on her birthday so we needed a cheap yet fun option. After a bit of brainstorming I came up with a couple ideas. Both of them involve decorating with buttons because as you know, all Lalaloopsy characters have button eyes.

#1. BUTTON DECORATED VASES (See the photo above) -

  • Glass or Plastic Vases (You can purchase these for $1 each at the $1 store)
  • Princess Ribbon (I purchase a roll of princess printed ribbon at the $1 store)
  • E-6000 Glue (I bought a tub for $3 at Walmart)
  • Bag of multi colored buttons in various sizes (I purchased a bag for $6 at Walmart)
Wash your glass vases and dry them off. Then simply, add a dab of glue and place a button on it. Hold it in place for a bit, so that it doesn't slide down. Then, move on to your next button until the vase is decorated to your satisfaction. I chose to alternate colors on each glass panel. Once that was finished I tied a princess themed ribbon around the top of the vase. While I was at the dollar store I purchased a couple packs of water expanding beads. They added to the festiveness of the vases. as they were multi-colored. For the floral, I wanted to spend as little as possible without having to purchase fake flowers. I purchased a bouquet of flowers at Walmart for $10 and then split the flowers between 6 vases. To make the vases I spent $16 and total with the flowers and colored beads I spent $28. Not too bad for six beautifully custom designed centerpieces.

#2. BUTTON DECORATED FRAMES (See the photo above) -
  • 1 Package of multi-colored buttons in various sizes (You can purchase a pack for $6 at Walmart)
  • 5 x 7 Frames or 8 x 10" Frames depending upon your preference ( You can purchase cheap frames at Walmart - 5 x 7" Frames are $3 and 8 x 10 Frames are $5.)
  • E600 Glue (You can purchase a tube of this glue for $3 at Walmart, but I used the left over that I already had).
  • Special portraits to go in the frame
My daughter did a special birthday shoot for her birthday photos which included a lot of  props, as well as outfit changes. They turned out so cute, so I wanted a cute way to show them off at her party. What better than decorated frames to accompany the vases! I glued a button in each corner of each frame. Then after they dried I came back along and glued a smaller button of a different color inside each larger button. (The picture above is not a finished product). For $24 I had beautiful centerpieces for each table. I also decorated one to place on her treats table.

#3. DECORATING A BABY CAKE IN A LALALOOPSY THEME
  • 1 Mini Lalaloopsy Character Set ( I purchased one at Toys R Us for $7.99)
  • 1 Baby Cake ( I received a free one with my Lalaloopsy Cupcake Cake from Walmart)
I ordered a Lalaloopsy Cupcake Cake and wanted a baby cake (otherwise known as a "smash cake"), from Walmart. Luckily, the baby cake came free with the cupcake cake. By the way, the cupcake cake was only $20 and included a mix of both vanilla and chocolate cupcakes.  I had them decorate the cake with various colored dots so it would go with the Lalaloopsy Mini Set. There was so many different Lalaloopsy characters to choose from but I decided to go with April Sunsplash because she is very bright and colorful. I simply washed the toys and accessories and then placed them on top of the cake. For only $8 I had a perfectly decorated Baby Cake. Of course, you are going to want to take the toys off right before you give the cake to your baby.

#4. BUTTON DECORATIONS
  • Packages of Bright Colored Paper Plates ( I purchased several colors)
  • Packages of small Colored Paper Plates ( I purchased several colors)
  • Bag of Multi-Colored Buttons ( I purchased a package at Walmart for $6)
  • E6000 Glue ( I used left over glue from my other projects)
Begin by selecting which colors you want to pair together. Once you set them out, begin gluing the smaller plates onto the larger plates. Afterward, glue four buttons on each small plate. Once they are finished you will have beautiful button ready to decorate your walls. They are very cheap to make yet they make ideal Lalaloopsy decorations! Just in case your wondering the Lalaloopsy decorations are actually decals that I purchased from Birthday Express.

#5. LALALOOPSY THEMED OUTFIT
I purchased the special customized Tutu dress on Etsy, but I did not want to pay $100 for a pair of customized shoes so I came up with a different idea: Bling out my own shoes! You will need:
  • 1 Pair of Converse (low or high top) or a cheap brand (whichever you prefer)
  • 2 packs of swavorski stones
  • E6000 Glue

Although, it was my first time blinging out shoes, they turned out very cute! It was actually rather fun but tedious. I already had a pair of low-top Converse so I used them and then purchased a Lalaloopsy hair bow clip to clip on each shoe. I also customized a pair including the bow for my niece. Not too bad for just beginning! I also purchased a customized Tippy Tumbelina Lalaloopsy necklace off of Etsy. Etsy is an excellent place to find unique items that you would not usually be able to find. They are also great about customizing items to your perfection, which makes them an ultimate birthday shop stop!

#6. LALALOOPSY DOLLS  (See the very 1st photo above)-
  • Lalaloopsy Littles Dolls
  • Small Doll Stands
I wanted to decorate using some Lalaloopsy dolls, but I wasn't sure how to display them until I came up with the idea of doll stands. I purchased 6 on Ebay, which was perfect since I had to decorate 6 tables! They were only $8, although I have since found them on a wholesale site for cheaper. Placing the dolls on doll stands also helped keep little hands from taking off with them and playing with them.

#7. I used a lollipop tree to display brightly colored suckers, and a cupcake carousel to display cupcakes. The orange and pink cake pops were made by a friend of mine and were a huge hit. My husband made a ton of cookies, as well as some delicious cheesecake dip.

Check out our little birthday girl!

This was after her first outfit change since my little diva had two birthday outfits. This dress is not lala related and can be seen in a past post.

Hopefully this post has gave you some great Lalaloopsy party ideas!
