Kernel Season's

So you sit down to watch a good movie and you have your comfy blanket,  and significant other to snuggle up to,  but whats missing?  In case you didn't guess,  popcorn!  But whats missing from the popcorn...popcorn seasonings from Kernel Season's!  But wait,  that's not all it's good for - it can also be used on icecream,  oatmeal,  basically the possibilities are endless! 


I have never been the type that likes anything plain,  I have to spice up just about everything so I am excited that Kernel Season's gives me the opportunity of spicing up my popcorn to my very own perfection.  With a selection of fourteen tasty flavors,  including dessert themed flavors such as Chocolate Marshmallow and snack flavors such as Sour Cream & Onion.  I recently had the opportunity to try some of their newest flavors Milk Chocolate Caramel and Pumpkin Spice,  along with some of their other popular flavors including Ranch and of course butter!

I was especially excited to try the Pumpkin Spice because it sounded so  unique and not to mention yummy!  Pumpkin is one of my most special   holiday flavorings,  as I like it in Coffee, Pie,  Scone,  Cake, Custard,  Muffins,  and just about everything excluding popcorn until now!  I was surprised by the flavors that Kernel Season's offered and for the most part I  didn't even know most of them exsisted.  I have always had three main flavors butter,  cheese,  or carmel but nothing else so I really                    

looked forward to trying out all of the flavors. 

Here is what I thought about each flavor:

• PUMPKIN SPICE - I sprinkled the Pumkin Spice on some plain popcorn because I did not want the butter to mix with the sweet pumpkin flavor.  It really transformed my regular popcorn snack into more of a dessert type of popcorn.  I also used some on my pancakes,  I simply sprinkled a little bit on each pancake as they cooked.  This makes a perfect holiday time treat for your entire family.
• MILK CHOCOLATE CARMEL - This is another flavor that I sprinkled on plain popcorn.  But I also decided to sprinkle some in my hot cocoa and it really gave it a sweet little twist.  My kids used it on their icecream and really liked it.  No matter how you use it I am sure you will enjoy it.
• RANCH - This flavoring can be used on many things you just have to get  a little creative.  For instance,  I use it on my potatoes to give them some added zip,  and on my baked chicken for extra flavor. 
•  BUTTER - This makes  a perfect topping for baked potatoes when you run out of butter.  It also tastes great on popcorn,  oatmeal,   and just about anything else you would use butter on.

Jodys Gourmet Popcorn

When I was younger,  my mother popped popcorn kernels on the stove,  and added her own butter.  Now days people use their microwave to pop their own popcorn.  But,  why make it yourself,  when you can purchase gourmet popcorn from Jody's Gourmet Popcorn!  But,  before I begin to tell you about their popcorn,  let me tell you a little about Jody herself!  Jody and her husband(Allen) lived in Chicago,  and enjoyed visiting the local Carmel corn store,  and then taking long walks while snacking on the treat. 

Allen even proposed to Jody using a box of cracker jack caramel corn with her engagement ring sealed inside an envelope hidden inside the box.  Who knows how he managed to get it in there,  thirty three years later and it still remains a mystery! When they moved to Virginia Beach they were disappointed to find there was no local Carmel corn shop,  which inspired them to open their very own gourmet popcorn shop!  But first,  they began testing recipes in their garage until they came up with the perfect Carmel corn recipe,  after 53 tries he created the perfect recipe,  which they off course named "Secret Recipe 53 Carmel Corn!  Jody's Gourmet Popcorn opened in September 2005 offering only four flavors,  now they offer over 23 delicious flavors of popcorn.

Not only do they offer popcorn,  but they also offer yummy treats such as fudge(in an assortment of flavors), Hand Dipped Apples,  Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Sticks,  and many other very tasty treats.   They offer over ten different flavors of fudge including Rocky Road,  Choco Toffee Fudge,  and Cookies n Cream Fudge,  just to name a few!  Their selection of gourmet popcorn is awesome!  You will find everything from classic flavored popcorn(Secret Recipe 53 Caramel Corn) to more unusual flavors(Cheesy Ranch).  They even offer movie popcorn,  which makes a perfect treat to much on,  while watching your favorite movies.

Jody's Gourmet Popcorn sent me four 1.5 ounce bags of popcorn(each a different flavor) to review.  I was really able to get a good feel for their products,  as I tried all four scrumptious flavors! Each bag contains 4 servings,  so there is enough to share and spread a little popcorn love!   Below I will let you know my thoughts about each flavor.

1. Double Cheddar - This flavor isn't my favorite,  but my sons loved it! I think I tend to like the sweeter popcorn flavors.   
2. White Cheddar - I liked this flavor better than the Double Cheddar.  I have always been a fan of White Cheddar,  and the flavor actually goes well with the popcorn. 
3. Recipe 53 Caramel Corn - I see why it took so long for them to develop this recipe!  It is the best Carmel corn I have ever tried!  It is sweet yet not too sweet,  just right!
4. Funfetti - This popcorn is definitely allot of fun!  It is full of bright uplifting fun colors and tastes as sweet as it looks!  I think it would make great favors at a birthday party,  or a great snack to display at a party.  Colors include: Blue,  Red,  Yellow and Green.
