I am so excited to announce that my favorite chipmunk characters: Alvin, Theodore, and Simon are reuniting with their female companions as they embark on a family vacation of a lifetime!  As a child of the 80's and 90's I especially appreciated the animated series - Alvin and the Chipmunks. Alvin was the troublemaker, Simon was the smart one, and Theodore was the chunky one(just to refresh your memory).  Well the well loved gang is back and just in time to enjoy with the family for Easter!

Twentieth Century Fox has outdone themselves again with this entertainingly funny movie!  The Chipmunks, Chipettes, and Dave Seville (Jason Lee) set out on what they think to be a dream trip as they board a carnival cruise line but it turns out to be nothing close to a dream trip when the Chipmunks, Dave, and Carnival cruise pelican mascot(who turns out to be their old manager), fall overboard and become "chipwrecked".  For the first time in their lives the furry friends are separated from Dave(their human adoptive father) and must learn to fend for themselves.  

OUR THOUGHTS:

You may not know this but Alvin and the Chipmunks actually began as an American animated music group back in 1958.  Nearly six decades later and they have came out with children's books, music albums, video games,  and much more!  It's not a surprise that they have been so loved for so many years because who could resist the cutest little furry chipmunks ever!  

I think my favorite part of the movie had to be when the Chipettes faced off against the girls for a dance competition.  It was so cute to watch them dance their little hearts out to the Lady GaGa song...too cute!  Besides songs from the Lady GaGa album the movie also features some songs from LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem". My two year old was dancing all over the room and bobbing his head to the music so he really got into it!  The movie comes with many fun bonuses including sing-a-long music videos, extended scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and much more.

I remember back in 1994 when Lion King first came out in theatres,  I was ten years old and fell in love with the movie the first time I saw it.  As soon as it came out on VHS (yes, I grew up when DVD's were not yet available), I must have watched it about a hundred times or more!  So you can imagine how excited I became when I learned there is now a Lion King 1 1/2 and a Lion King 2!  I was so excited that the movie I loved as a child had now returned with new movies so my children could enjoy some of the same characters that I loved as a child.

This tale brings you all the way back to the very beginning before Simba's tale ever began. It was interesting to hear where Simba and Pumba came from, and what really happened behind the scenes of the Lion King's biggest events.  Not only did it put a smile on my kids face but also on my face, as it is a very funny comedy.  I was pleased to hear the voices of Whoopie Goldberg and Jerry Stiller in this amazingly funny movie.

OUR THOUGHTS:

I love the fact that an entire new generation can enjoy the Lion King too!  My sons faces lit up with joy as they watched this movie.  The characters are just as cute as can be.  It's really cool being able to see Simba and Nala all grown up. It was also quite nice to hear the voice of Neve Campbell which you might remember from Scream.   I am so excited to add both of these movies to our DVD collection and I am sure you will be too!

As soon as the DVD arrived we tore it open and popped it in the DVD player.  My kids love Garfield and I love watching it with them so of course we were super excited to watch it!  The Garfield Show: Spooky Tails is full of unique animation and features the same classic characters you remember as a child only with more detail and better animation.  


You may not know this but The Garfield Show: Spooky Tails was Emmy nominated in 2011 for outstanding Achivement in music direction and composition.  


My sons enjoyed each and every episode although their favorite episode happens to be the one that involves pizza!  Go figure because my kids favorite food is pizza!  When Garfield is abducted by aliens after sneaking into his favorite "No cats allowed" pizza place he must save the day by cooking the aliens the best pizza in the galaxy!  This is just one of the six fun episodes that the DVD includes.

My kids wanted to watch a movie,  so I let them choose the movie and VeggieTales it was!  First off,  they love the cute little characters.  Secondly, they love all the rhyming and songs throughout the DVD.  And third I think they just enjoy the storyline of the characters.  I actually found myself watching along with them and thought it was such a cute little tale.  


In one of the features, The veggie kids end up working in a warehouse where they refuse to sing the "Bunny Song".  They have their own song and it goes nothing like the bunny song!  Well,  their song ends up teaching them whats right in the end and teaching the others as well.  This DVD kept my three year old entertained the entire time as he tried to sing the words and keep track of everything going on. Even my 20 month old    danced along to the songs.

Take two animals mix them together and what do you get? Recently, the world faced a gigantic animal baby boom that had storks flying willy-nilly to take zillions of newborns to their parents. Still trying valiantly to cradle their precious cargo, stork after stork crashed into one other. Feathers flew everywhere as the storks and the babies fell from the sky. What to do?
 

The storks quickly regrouped. Surveying the aftermath of their multiple collisions and to their amazement, they found thousands of baby animals all jumbled up in what could only be considered a new breed. Zebras and elephants became ZELEPHANTS! Giraffes and buffaloes became GIRAFFALOES! They called them JUMBIES, each and every one of them a star. Since it wasn’t clear where the little ones were supposed to go, the storks scooped them up and flew off to a beautiful island they called JUMBIELAND.

Jumbies was kind enough to provide me with two jumbies to review,  so I chose Tyramosaur and HorseFly. 

Tyramosaur is the result of mixing a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a Ram to create a spontaneous,  engergetic,  animal by the name of Warner.  Just like my children,  he loves hamburgers and macaroni and cheese.  He loves to play and explore Jumbieland with his favorite pal Zumbo the Zelephant. He is the largest of all the Jumbies in Jumbieland standing at 7 1/2" tall.  My children loves his bright blue colored body with his big yellow ram horns. 

HorseFly is the result of mixing a Horse with a Butterfly to create a free spirited,  always on the go,  hyper animal by the name of Kloie.  She enjoys blueberries anc chocolate just like me!  When she is excited you will know by her shrill scream she lets out to know you are paying attention to her,  and with her adorable features how could you not pay attention to her!  Kloie is Tan with Black hooves and brightly colored butterfly wings.  She stands 5 1/2" tall and  makes the perfect Jumbie for any child, especially little girls!

2011 Holiday Gift Guide - Maui Toys

You may wondering what is so good about a Sky Ball? Just like last time,  my children had a blast bouncing these mind-blowing balls and watching them as the flew up in the air and then back down.  My two oldest tried doing bouncing contests where they would see who could bounce their ball the highest.  It was no surprise that my oldest won time and time again,  but never the less,  they both enjoyed competing with each other.  It seems like the ball gains momentum as it flies up in the air.  I am not exactly sure why they go so high,  but I know it has to do with helium.  There's something else that makes it soar high up in the air but it's top secret so I don't even know what it exactly is!

2011 Holiday Gift Guide Day 11 - Green Toys

What if there was a site that offered toys that were not only 100% made in the United States,  but also made out of recycled milk jugs. Green Toys very kindly provided me with two exciting toys to review with my boys and one to review with my nieces.  Their current selection of toys includes 26 classic toys that any child would be sure to love including Blocks,  Sand Play Sets.  Chef Set,  and many other fun and entertaining toys. 

The first toy we reviewed was the Green Toys™ Flatbed Truck & Race Car .  Before I ever received it I knew my kids would love it because what little boy doesnt love race cars!  From my one year old to my seven year old,  they all enjoyed it.   It provided them with hours of imaginative play.  This set includes a blueFlatbed truck with a bright red race car.  The flatbed can actually be tilted up to allow the race car to roll off.

Last,  but not least on the list is the Green Toys™ Pink Dump Truck for girls. I recieved this item to review with my nieces,  which was a nice change since most the items I review with my boys,  so it was nice to be able to receive a pink colored toy.  It may be colored pretty and pink but your little girl can still get down and dirty in this fun dump truck for girls. No matter if she fills it up with dolls or rocks,  she is sure to have a lot of fun with this enjoyable toy.
