This musical tells the tale of the classic tragedy of Romeo & Juliet against a backdrop of gang warfare set back in the 1950s New York.  Feuding families turn into rival games as a love affair is fated for tragedy. With excellent performances by Natelie Wood,  Russ Tamblyn,  Richard Beymer,  Rita Moreno,  and George Chakris,  West Side Story remains a true masterpiece of all times. 

On November 15th Twentieth Century Fox and MGM Home Entertainment paid tribute to the outstanding film as stars Rita Moreno, George Chakiris and Russ Tamblyn were immortalized at the exact location of the film’s original premiere in 1961 with a hand and footprint ceremony at the world famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

OUR THOUGHTS:
 It's no wonder why this film received ten academy awards including Best Picture*! It's highly entertaining with amazing performances, engaging songs,  and lots of dance moves. Overall,  I was very impressed with this classic and it's new digitally enhanced qualities!  It would make an excellent Christmas gift for any fan of love movies and musicals,  or a great additon to any DVD collection.
