I am so excited to announce that my favorite chipmunk characters: Alvin, Theodore, and Simon are reuniting with their female companions as they embark on a family vacation of a lifetime!  As a child of the 80's and 90's I especially appreciated the animated series - Alvin and the Chipmunks. Alvin was the troublemaker, Simon was the smart one, and Theodore was the chunky one(just to refresh your memory).  Well the well loved gang is back and just in time to enjoy with the family for Easter!

Twentieth Century Fox has outdone themselves again with this entertainingly funny movie!  The Chipmunks, Chipettes, and Dave Seville (Jason Lee) set out on what they think to be a dream trip as they board a carnival cruise line but it turns out to be nothing close to a dream trip when the Chipmunks, Dave, and Carnival cruise pelican mascot(who turns out to be their old manager), fall overboard and become "chipwrecked".  For the first time in their lives the furry friends are separated from Dave(their human adoptive father) and must learn to fend for themselves.  

OUR THOUGHTS:

You may not know this but Alvin and the Chipmunks actually began as an American animated music group back in 1958.  Nearly six decades later and they have came out with children's books, music albums, video games,  and much more!  It's not a surprise that they have been so loved for so many years because who could resist the cutest little furry chipmunks ever!  

I think my favorite part of the movie had to be when the Chipettes faced off against the girls for a dance competition.  It was so cute to watch them dance their little hearts out to the Lady GaGa song...too cute!  Besides songs from the Lady GaGa album the movie also features some songs from LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem". My two year old was dancing all over the room and bobbing his head to the music so he really got into it!  The movie comes with many fun bonuses including sing-a-long music videos, extended scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and much more.

GET READY TO LAUGH SO HARD YOUR STOMACH WILL HURT!

Take a trash talking horny college student, mix him with a first time baby sitting job, and an adventure to visit his girlfriend and you have yourself one crazy sitter!  After Jonah's mother asks him to babysit some children for a friend of hers so she can go on a date, he soon gives in and lands himself a baby sitting job. Once he arrives he meets the kids - a sensitive boy who is keeping a secret, a young girl that dreams of being a movie star, and an adopted kid who is really into fires and bombs.  If dealing with the kids isn't enough his so called girlfriend asks him to visit her at a party and soon he gives in to her request, only problem is he must take the kids with him!  See what happens when three crazy kids, one crazy babysitter head out on a night time trip which ends up becoming one huge hilarious adventure!      

Our Thoughts:

I have to admit it's not often that a movie has me rolling me on the floor laughing but The Sitter had me doing just that! This movie is ingeniously funny which makes it very entertaining as well.  The sitter is not your ordinary babysitter and defintely not someone you would want watching your kids but he sure is funny.  I expected it to be funny from the first time I heard that Jonah Hill stars in it because I have seen him in previous movies and there is no denying he sure is a funny actor.  

We put the kids to bed and my husband and I sat down to watch this insanely funny movie.  It kept us laughing out loud the entire movie,  and that's not something that happens very often!  I reccomend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good comedy.  It would make a great addition to any movie collection including yours and mine!

Synopsis:

Now renewed for its second season, “BREAKOUT KINGS” follows some unconventional partners working to catch convicts on the run. Driven by the fact that there are few things more dangerous than a prisoner who has just escaped and tired of following protocol, veteran U.S. Marshals Charlie DuChamp (Laz Alonso) and Ray Zancanelli (Domenick Lombardozzi) are taking an unorthodox approach to their work: using former fugitives to catch fugitives. If they agree to help, the fugitives’ sentences will be reduced for each escaped convict they bring in. However, if any of them should try to escape themselves their sentences will be doubled. Will the “BREAKOUT KINGS” wait for their freedom, or will they go on the run themselves? 

OUR THOUGHTS:

Without ever seeing this television show before I thought it would be similar to Prision Break but much to my surprise they werent actually trying to break out, instead they are working to help capture criminals in order to get time knocked off their sentence.  Each episode keeps you wondering what will happen next and really leaves you in suspense.  I would have to say my favorite episode is the third one on the first disc because it features a character from Prision Break (Robert Kneeper) and guess who he stars as?  Yept, the one and only Theodore "T Bag" Bagwell(just like on Prision Break)!  

So far I have watched the first two discs,  so I still have two more discs left to watch because the set comes with four DVD's. The Breakout Kings Season 1 DVD's contain a total of 572 minutes of entertainment,  so they will keep you entertained for quite a while!

Director Alexander Payne brings you one of the best films of the year!  Fox Searchlight and Twentieth Century Fox brings you The Descendants.  The movie includes a talented cast including Best Actor Nominee George Clooney and Shailene Woodly ( The Secret Life of The American Teenager).  Purchase this movie and not only will you bring home a warm and witty film but you will also be able to go behind the scenes with all new extensive content.

The Descendants is based on the best selling novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings.  After Matt King (George Clooney) is forced to be a sole taker for his two daughters he must reaccess his life and learn to embrace his future.  His wife gets into a horrible boat accident and goes into a comma causing Matt King's life to turn upside down.  Soon after finding out about his wifes accident he soon learns that his life wasnt totally what he thought it was.    Too add to problems Matt is the sole decider of his families land handed down to him from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.  

Our Thoughts:

It's no wonder why The Descendants was nominated for five Academy Awards and winner for Best Adapted Screenplay.  And Let's just say it didn't hurt that George Clooney stared in this movie because I am a huge fan of Clooney!  Not only did this movie include tragic heart felt moments but it also included humor making it a must see movie.  I loved the beautiful Hawaiian scenery,  which makes me yearn for a trip to the islands.  It makes an excellent addition to our DVD collection and it will to yours too!

Tooth Fairy 2 DVD

LARRY THE CABLE GUY STARS IN

Let me introduce you to the funniest comedy of Spring 2012...Tooth Fairy 2.  No other than Larry the Cable Guy stars in this outragiously funny family comedy.  Tooth Fairy 2 is actually a follow up to the 2010 theatrical hit Tooth Fairy.  I have to admit Larry the Cable Guy is very liked in my household,  so of course we were excited to watch it.  I remember seeing the previews for it and it looked so dang funny I couldn't help but Laugh out loud!   

Larry the Cable Guy stars as Larry Guthrie a fun loving dreamer on a serious mission.  When the love of Larry's life is going to marry another man he sets out to win her love,  but comes across some obstacles along the way.  The first thing he does wrong is he tells a child that the tooth fairy is just a myth which soon lands him being sentenced to becoming a tooth fairy or facing losing his best memory forever.  He soon faces a 500 year old tooth fairy that is trapped in a ten year old girls body played by Brady Reiter.  After being sentenced to being a temporary tooth fairy he must collect 20 teeth in 20 days or risk loosing the love of his life for ever!  

We really enjoyed watching this as a family because all of our kids enjoyed it too.  We all got some good laughs out of the movie and made for a perfect family movie night.  I couldn't help but laugh every time I saw Larry the Cable Guy dressed up in a pink tutu complete with a pink hat,  pink tights, and even a pink fanny pack!  Not to mention the pink overalls and the other funny pink outfits.  All I can say is Get-R-Done!

Growing up as preachers children both Amara(Ciara) and her younger brother Luke was taught to pursue their  dreams,  which is something they learned to live by her entire life.  After her fathers passing her mother, Lillian Winter(Lynn Whitfield) went on to become a preacher and soon rose to the top of the gospel world.  Amaras talent soon put her in the star light as she took over the pop world, after being discovered by talented agents.  It wasn't  long before both Amaras and Lillians outlook on life collided, which put a strain on their relationship.  When Amara and Lillian put their differences aside they realize they are actually very similar in many ways.  


MY THOUGHTS:
I was excited to see both Ciara and Patti Labelle in this amazing story about the strength of family,  love,  and faith.  Ciara played the  star role as Amara while Pattie Labelle plays the role of sister Carrie. This is a fabulous family movie that teaches the value of both love and faith.  I think it would suit just about all ages so your whole family can enjoy it!

THE REBOUND on DVD and Blu-Ray  

Just in time for Valentine's Day,  The Rebound will be able for purchase on DVD and Blu-Ray beginning on February 7th!  The Rebound  is a delightful adult romantic comedy that stars Academy Award Winner Catherine Zeta-Jones and Justin Bartha.  


After realizing her husband is cheating on her Sandy(a woman in her forties)  divorces her husband and moves to an apartment in New York with their two children. The apartment just so happens to be above a coffee shop where she soon meets a handsome young man, Aram(Justin Bartha), who works at the coffee shop, and  It isn't long before both her and her children take to him.  He soon offers his baby sitting services to Sandy (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and next thing you know he is the kids "nanny".  It isn't long before their "friendship" turns into much more than that!  But the question is, is it real or is it just a rebound? As Sandy has just divorced her husband and Arams wife only married him to get her green card.  


Unlike most of the cheesy romance movies this one is much more realistic,  which makes it even more interesting.  I love that Catherine Zeta-Jones stars in this movie and I love that Justin Bartha stars in it even more because I love those beautiful sparkling blue eyes,  and I must say he is easy on the eyes!  I enjoyed every minute of it,  it kept my attention and got me doing some serious laughing.  I think this movie would make an excellent choice to watch this Valentine's Day!

This powerful psychological thriller stars Elizabeth Olsen as Martha.   After fleeing from an abusive cult Martha struggles to reconnect with family while dealing with painful memories and increasing paranoia. After escaping the cult she goes to live with her older sister and brother in law,  but she is unwilling to reveal the truth about her disappearance.  She can't seem to get back to her regular self because she continues to worry about the cult finding her.  

MY THOUGHTS:

Martha Marcy May Marlene is edgy,  raw,  and right up my alley! To be totally honest with you I had no clue that the lead actress (Elizabeth Olsen) just happens to be the younger sister to the famous  and beloved Olsen Twins.  I did not know until a friend of mine mentioned it to me after watching the movie.  This movie exposes the destructive power of cults on youth.  It is definitely a must see movie and would make a great addition to any DVD collection.

Twentieth Century Fox presents THE WHISTLEBLOWER - a movie inspired by true events.  

ABOUT:
THE WHISTLEBLOWER stars Academy Award Winners Rachel Weiz(The Constant Gardner) as a Nebraska cop that accepts a highly paying U.N. peace-keeper position in post-war Bosnia in hopes of financing being closer to her children who live with her husband who had recently been granted custody of them.  She isn't in Bosnia long before she discovers a deadly sex-trafficking rink.  


What she first believes to be the work of one person,  she later finds out it more than just one, matter of fact it includes a slew of military officers and diplomats!  Even though the war may be over in Bosnia,  the corruption is not!  In an attempt to save the lives of others Bolkovac sets out to reveal their corruption,  but ends up risking her own life while doing so. 

MY THOUGHTS:

Prior to watching this movie I had no clue what the term"whistleblower" meant.  I finally found out after watching this movie - a person who tells the public or someone in authority about alleged dishonest or illegal activities is referred to as a "whistleblower", (because they blow the whistle on someone).  


It saddens me to know that this movie was based on true events because I know things like this have actually happened.  That being said,  it also makes it more interesting because it is more "realistic".


It is hard to comprehend,  but sex trafficking is real in fact it is believed that there are 2.5 million victims of it.  This movie really brought that to my attention while packing full of heart pounding moments.  The film brings to light that sex trafficking is real as Bolkovac's situation is far from complete.  


This definitely isn't a movie you can watch with your kids(I watched it while they were napping and at school) but it is a good movie to sit down with your significant other and watch.  It would make a great addition to any DVD collection.

What's Your Number combines dating and relationships with humor throughout the entire movie,  along with a couple sweet moments. Anna Faris (Scary Movie Franchise) and Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) work together to find some of Anna's past numbers and by numbers I mean numbers on her list(you know the number of people she has slept with).  When she reads a magazine that states if you sleep with over twenty men that mr. right may just pass you up she takes it seriously and sets out to try to make it work with one of her past numbers on her list.  With the help of her hot neighbor they set out to find all of her past loves who might just be the one.  What does the hot neighbor get out of it?  Well,  he get's help escaping from his latest flings!  While she knows she is searching for mr. right,  she doesn't know that mr. right has been right in front of her eyes the entire time!  

MY THOUGHTS:

I was especially excited to review this movie because Valentine's Day is right around the corner,  so it couldn't have come out at a more appropriate time.  I would definently have to consider this a chick flick,  although I am sure guys would find humor in it too. It's something probably every woman has thought about at one time or another no matter how few or how many,  but I would certainly have to say my number is under ten.  It's a unique movie with plenty of humor and of course those mushy love moments too.   I loved the ending even though I can't tell you what happened!  Your just going to have to watch it and find out for yourself. 

 You may not know this but this movie is actually based upon the book "20 Times a Lady" by Karen Bosnak.

Go to a Baseball Game



Most every major city has a baseball team, and seats in the bleachers are very inexpensive (some ballparks even offer deals where for a small sum you can get tickets, hot dogs and drinks). Since baseball season lasts for about seven months of the year, you have tons of opportunities to munch on peanuts and Cracker Jacks and cheer for your local team. Get out of the house with either a date or your friends, grab your mitt in case of fly balls, and enjoy this great American pastime! 


Get Outside!



One of the best and most inexpensive ways to spend time with your friends is to do something outside. Go for a walk or a jog, play basketball, Frisbee or soccer in the park, spend time at a local lake, go for a hike, ride a bike – there’s something for everyone in the great outdoors! Getting together with a group of friends to get outside and be active is both cheap and fulfilling – you’ll have fun and feel great while doing it!


Have a Rooftop Picnic



If you have access to your building’s rooftop, entice your friends or a date to join you for a view of the city and a casual meal! This fun dining experience can be made inexpensive by asking your friends to bring food and drinks. Make sure you have some blankets and pillows (or other suitable seating arrangements) and, if you’re going to dine in the dark, some lights or candles. A rooftop picnic can also be easily transformed from a fun group activity to an intimate date night under the stars.


Go On a Walking Tour of Your City


Ally lives in Boston, a city full of rich history and amazing architecture. No matter where you live, you likely have some cool sites or unexplored areas that you can venture to! The best part? A walking tour is of little or no cost to you! Convince some friends or a date to come along, and then plot your route. Try searching online for interesting places to visit, and make yourself a walking map of the different places you want to go. Not only will you learn some cool new things about your town, but you’ll also get some free exercise. It’s a win-win!


Have a Themed Date Night at Home



Ally and Colin have a Mexican-themed date night in, and you can easily and inexpensively do the same! Take this as an opportunity and a challenge to learn to cook a new type of cuisine, and to expand your horizons. Try making homemade pasta sauce, meatballs and spaghetti, grab a bottle of vino, and rent an Italian classic like La Dolce Vita. Or try your hand at making chow mein and watch some badly dubbed kung fu movies at home. The possibilities are endless!

The Big Year takes you on an extremely humorous outdoor adventure filled with fun and entertainment.  Three men from totally different lives participating in a simple task end up turning it into a huge competition as they set out to find as many birds as possible within a year.  Througout their journey they form unlikely friendships that will bring them together in their task of searching for foul.  Their journey will take them through North America as they compete to find the most foul that they possibly can which turns out to be a mission filled with laughs...laughs for you that is!  

OUR THOUGHTS:

From the very first time I saw that Owen Wilson,  Jack Black,  and Steve Martin was going to be staring in the movie together I knew it would be a great comedy!  You see,  Steve Martin just happens to be one of my favorite actors(I think I have seen him in almost all of his films),  so when I saw he would be teaming up with two other great actors I knew I had to see this movie.  Besides that my husband has also been anxiously waiting to see it so we sat down together and decided to have a movie night.

For about an hour and fourty minutes we laughed and was very entertained by this extremely funny movie.  We are very fond of birds,  so it was really cool be able to see all the different types of birds.  At the end of the movie we both gave it a thumbs up which does not happen very often.

20th Century Fox - In Time

PICK UP A COPY OF IN TIME... JUST IN TIME!

Ever wonder what life would be like if our life was determined by time?  Of course everyone runs out of time when they pass away,  but what if life revolved around time?  What if your every day things like bills,  groceries,  even little things like coffee cost you time out of your life,  and what if you got paid with time?  Seems pretty interesting huh, well it is and that is why you should purchase "In Time",  a soon to be released movie by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. 

ABOUT:

In this fascinating film as soon as you hit twenty five years of age your aging gene is turned off and that is how you look for the rest of your life but the rest of your life is determined on time.  After that everyone must work to buy time or die within a year.  For the rich it is not a problem because they can just simply buy themselves out of the situation,  but for the poor it is a total different story.  

Will Salas(Justin Timberlake) stars as a young poor man accidently receives more time than he could have ever imagined from a millionaire he is soon found accidently accused of murder and sets out bring down the system in any way he possibly can.  And of course with the help of a pretty young lady along his side!

OUR THOUGHTS:

 When then movie first came out my husband and I wanted to go see it in the theatre but never got a chance so as soon as we had the opportunity to watch it we were very excited!  You see we usually have movie night every saturday and we had a movie to watch but as soon as this one arrived we quickly replaced the other movie with this one and popped it in our DVD player.  I love it when I am able to find movies that both me and my husband are equally interested in watching and this one was definitely one of those movies!

I was especially excited by the fact that Justin Timberlake stars in this movie because I think he is pretty easy on the eyes if you ask me not to mention what a great role he played!  It was very interesting to watch because it's not like every other film that I have watched in the past,  it's main focus of the movie is very unique and intriguing,  it really got me thinking...what if?  Both my husband and I thought the movie was very entertaining and kept us on the edge of our seat the entire movie wondering what would happen next.  Would Will Salars time run out?  Would he be caught?  Well,   I'm not telling so your just going to have to pick up a copy to find out for yourself.  This thrilling movie will make a great addition to your movie collection and is perfect for a movie night.

WATCH SHARK NIGHT AND GET READY FOR A LOT OF BITES!

Are you a fan of scary movies and especially scary shark movies? Then you definitely don't want to miss out on this one!  

ABOUT:

Seven young vacationers set out for a weekend of fun as they leave get a small break from college at a lake house of one of the vacationers parents.  What they think is a weekend of fun quickly turns into a weekend of shark attacks and a fight for their lives.  While having a little fun wake boarding on the water until one of their friends suffers a tramatic wake board accident or so they think.  Soon they realize it was much more than an accident and must struggle to get Malik help.  It isn't that easy because before they know it they realize it's not just the sharks that are out to get them.  

Full of terror,  excitment and lots of thrilling moments this movie is sure to entertain!     

OUR THOUGHTS:

I have wanted to watch this movie ever since I first saw the previews for it and my husband was equally interested in watching it so we both anxiously awaited until our chance came along to watch it.  I must say I have been a huge fan of thriller and horror movies ever since I was a kid so this type of movie is just up my alley.  

Shark Night is from the same talented producer that gave us Final Destination and Snakes on a plane.  The movie begins with action right off the bat,  now that's what I'm talking about! It captured our attention from start to finish and was really entertaining to watch.  I love the twists and turns that the film produces as you get further and further into the movie.  It certainly had some shocking surprises throughout the movie which really grabbed our attention.  Even the ending was a complete surprise and attention grabber. 

RUN TIME: 91 Minutes

If your family is anything like mine, you enjoy curling up on the cold days and watching movies together as a family.  Some of our favorite movies to watch during the holidays are ones that really set the mood for Christmas!  That is why we were very excited to receive ICE AGE: A MAMMOTH CHRISTMAS on Blu-ray & DVD combo pack.

Looking for a mammoth of a good time?  Then you should definetly pick up Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special on single disc DVD or Blu-ray + Digital copy pack. America's favorite herd of animals returns in an all new movie that your entire family will enjoy!

While busy decorating for the holiday season Sid(John Leguizamo) accidently ends up destroying Manny's (Ray Romano) favorite decoration(a Christmas rock that had been passed down from generation to generation).  Manny makes Sid believe he is on Santa's naughty list and will not get Christmas which highly dissapoints Sid. After Peaches convinces him to go to the North Pole to discuss it with Santa-  Sid, Peach, Crash, and Eddie all set out to follow the northern lights all the way to Santas house in the North Pole!  In the mean time Manny,  Ellie,  and Diego become worried about the whereabouts of Peaches and set out to find her.

Along the way they end up meeting some interesting characters including a flying reindeer,  and an army of mini sloths who resemble little elves. Their meeting with Santa doesnt end up going as they planned and Sid and his crew accidently end up destroying Santa's workshop on Christmas Eve which ends up threatening Christmas for everyone! 

OUR THOUGHTS:

Our family definitely had a mammoth of a good time while watching Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas.  My children are big fans of Ice Age so I knew they would love it before we ever received it.  We loved the cute  characters along with the innocently fun story line.  All three of my children enjoyed watching it including my oldest who is eight and my youngest who is 20 months old.  Not to mention my husband and I because it contained plenty of humor that made us lol!  It may only be twenty give minutes long but since we have plenty of movies to watch during the holidays it seems like the perfect length.

I think this movie would make a great Christmas gift of stocking stuffer for just about any child!
