THE WHISTLEBLOWER stars Academy Award Winners Rachel Weiz(The Constant Gardner) as a Nebraska cop that accepts a highly paying U.N. peace-keeper position in post-war Bosnia in hopes of financing being closer to her children who live with her husband who had recently been granted custody of them. She isn't in Bosnia long before she discovers a deadly sex-trafficking rink.
What she first believes to be the work of one person, she later finds out it more than just one, matter of fact it includes a slew of military officers and diplomats! Even though the war may be over in Bosnia, the corruption is not! In an attempt to save the lives of others Bolkovac sets out to reveal their corruption, but ends up risking her own life while doing so.

MY THOUGHTS:
Prior to watching this movie I had no clue what the term"whistleblower" meant. I finally found out after watching this movie - a person who tells the public or someone in authority about alleged dishonest or illegal activities is referred to as a "whistleblower", (because they blow the whistle on someone).
It saddens me to know that this movie was based on true events because I know things like this have actually happened. That being said, it also makes it more interesting because it is more "realistic".
It is hard to comprehend, but sex trafficking is real in fact it is believed that there are 2.5 million victims of it. This movie really brought that to my attention while packing full of heart pounding moments. The film brings to light that sex trafficking is real as Bolkovac's situation is far from complete.
This definitely isn't a movie you can watch with your kids(I watched it while they were napping and at school) but it is a good movie to sit down with your significant other and watch. It would make a great addition to any DVD collection.
