McKenna Party!!!

Remember the DVD review I did for the awesome movie McKenna Shoots For The Stars?  Go to this link to refresh your memory.  In honor of the DVD release I was also chosen to host a special advance screening McKenna party!  As many of you may know I absolutely love hosting parties,  so of course I jumped at the opportunity!

Because this was more of a girl's party we decided to invite some of my son's girl cousins over, along with their mothers.
I went with a coffee break/ tea party them - coffee for the adults and tea for the girls.  I got cute little tea pots for the girls and served coffee for all the mamas.  You probably don't know this but McKenna actually helped her mom at her mothers seattle coffee shop.  I thought since it fit in the movie and provides a perfect bonding time it would make a perfect time to discuss the movie.

We popped up some popcorn and placed it in popcorn theme bags, just like in a real movie theatre.  We even placed some glow in the dark stars around the ceiling,  so when the lights were dimmed it looked really neat.  After watching the movie we all sat down to discuss it over coffee, tea, and a menu of finger foods and cupcakes for dessert.  We even made little mini sandwiches cut into stars for the girls, since McKenna was her own star!

The kids all agreed they loved the fact that McKenna was into gymnastics, and it really got the moms talking about getting their children into gymnastics.  We spoke about the importance of good grades, talking to your parents, and getting active.  Overall the party was a huge success and we all had a lot of fun!  All the kids went home with favor bags which put a little smile on each and every one of their faces.

Be sure to pick up your DVD copy,  which released on shelves on July 3, 2012.  You may purchase it at Walmart, American Girl Stores and online at AMERICANGIRL.COM.

*Disclaimer - I received a party package along with a gift card in exchange for hosting the party and posting about it.  In no way did this alter any of my opinions expressed in this post.*
