Cookie Dough Bites Factory App Review + Giveaway

If you have an iPad, iPhone, or use iTunes, I have the perfect app for you!

The Cookie Dough Bites Factory app is totally FREE and a ton of fun.  In fact,  it is so fun that it had reached #1 ranked in iTune stores in games for kids category.  Not only did my kids enjoy it but I did too(surprisingly because I do not enjoy playing many games). I have to warn you though it can become quite addicting.

I began by selecting factory 1 although there are plenty of other choices including Factory 2, Factory 3, Headquarters, and Warehouse.  So after choosing the chocolate chip cookie mix I headed over to the ingredients area to get started.

Next,  I mixed all my ingredients for my delicious cookie dough bites.  Please note you should not overfill the bins or you will lose batter.  It will show you how much dough you wasted and how much you completed as it loads the dough crates into a pallet.

Next, comes the fun part - the candy coating area!  There you will be able to spray the cookie dough bites with yummy chocolate.  You have to be quick though or they will fall through the bin!  Once again it will show you your progress.

The next step somehow makes me think of the chocolate episode on I Love Lucy.  You must discard the bad bites on the conveyor belt.  Wondering which ones the bad ones are? They are the ones that are not coated because after all they taste so much better coated with chocolate!

Last but not least is the pallette dock where you will be put to the test!  My score was 82 Cookie Dough Bites,  as I lost a few.  In the end you will be givin a score based on stars.  My son has been getting better and better the more he plays. The graphics are super cute and the app is super fun.  Don't take my word for it,  head on over and check it out for yourself!

Savor Sweets Review + Giveaway

Are you tired of the same old lollipop flavors and looking to try something truly unique?  Then look no further because Savor Sweets offers suckers in a variety of uncommon flavors that you are sure to enjoy,  atleast i did any way!  They make small batches by hand to create some of the most unforgettable suckers you have ever tried.

The thing that stands out most about their products is by far their uniquness!  In search of a different flavor that is out of the ordinary?  Guess what,  they can also customize flavors for you so you might just want to look into that as well.

They offer the following flavors:

  • Black Tea
  • Espresso
  • Basil
  • Chai Tea
  • Balsamic
  • Pink Peppercorn
  • Spicy Habenero
  • Fresh Mint
  • Spiced Honey Baklava
  • Tiger's Ear Vanilla Cinnamon
  • Pomegranate & Lemon
  • Caramel with Seasalt
I am sure you can tell by the above description how uniquely different their selection of flavors are. And if you think their flavors are unique I have news for you their packaging is just as unique!   They are wrapped in packaging made out of recycled paper printed with soy ink,  biocompostable cellophane bags, and organic compostable ribbon made in the US.  When you finish your sucker you can toss it in your compost pile or yard waste bin,  how cool is that!  The suckers are all shaped like a tulip and vary in color depending on their flavor. I found it interesting that many of their flavors contain only three ingredients.

I was very excited to try the Baklava flavor because my late grandmother was Greek and use to make Baklava.  It has been many years since she passed and I figured the Baklava flavor might just spark some fond memories of the past.  Both my husband,  son,  and I all tried it.  My husband thought it tasted like spiced honey,  but since I knew what it was and was familiar with the taste of Baklava I immediatly was able to make out the Baklava flavor.

Second on the list was the Caramel with Seasalt.  It tasted very sweet as it had a very distinctive carmel flavor with the slightest hint of salt.  Although I liked the Baklava flavor the Caramel with Seasalt flavor was my favorite.

Thirdly I selected to sample the Espresso flavor because what can I say,  I am a coffee fanatic!  The flavor was also very distinctive and very raw tasting.  It left a lingering espresso flavor in my mouth.  I enjoyed the dark espresso flavor.

Goody Good Stuff

GOODY GOOD STUFF

I am happy to announce that this week I will be featuring a "Going back to school" event!  Monday through Friday I will post a review/giveaway that has to do with the going back to school theme!  I'm kicking off the week with a very fun review and giveaway for Goody Good Stuff!
My entire family,  including the kids of course,  are huge candy fanatics!  Some of our favorite candy is gummy candy,  so when I was contacted to review some Goody Good Stuff,  I  knew it was a company I would love to review for,   I just didn't realize exactly how much I was going to love their products.  Goody Good Stuff isn't your ordinary type of gummy candy,  they are made using a plant derived  bio-gum technology.  Wondering whats so good about it?  Well,  it's simple- the bio-gum technology replaces the animal-based gelatin that most gummy candy brands use.   Gelatin is actually derived from the collagen inside animals skin and bones,  sounds pretty gross huh!

GOODY GOOD STUFF:
  • All Natural Flavors
  • Vegetarian
  • Gelatin Free
  • Fat Free!
  • Dairy Free!
  • No Artificial Colours
  • Completely Allergen Free!

Goody Good Stuff is just that and more! I was lucky enough to get to sample three of their lovely products.  Are you in the mood for a little bit of cola soda?  Well,  pop one of these cola candies down your throat and your in for a refreshing sweet treat!   I chose Cola Breeze (off top) because I have always loved cola.  I think I have been addicted to dark cola soda since I was just a young girl,  so it's not a surprise that it would be my top choice!   Cola Breeze is a very fun product and is actually shaped just like a bottle of cola,  filled half way up with cola!  I think it would be awesome if they came out with a Cherry Cola Splash or something to that effect.  Cola Breeze was my favorite flavor even though I enjoyed the other two as well.

The second flavor I chose to review is their Sour Fruit Salad(Vegan),  which was also a lot of fun!  With a awesome name and awesome shapes to go along with it,  I would have to say this is my second favorite flavor.  My kids enjoyed the fun shapes including Strawberries,  Lemon Slices,  Orange Slices,  and apple shaped gummy candy.  As you can see in the picture above,   the kids had fun playing with them too!  The texture is just like any other gummy candy and the taste is delicious,  if you didn't know you would never guess that these candies are made differently from most brands.

The third flavor I tried was the Cheery Cherries.  With a cheerful name, and a sweet cherry taste,  how could you go wrong!  I loved the soft smooth texture that makes the candies just glide right down your throat.  The Cheery Cherries are shaped just like a cherry with a leaf and taste just like a sweet red cherry.  The kids also enjoyed the fun shapes and taste of the Cheery Cherries.  I think they would make a great way to entice my child to be good at school.  I figure if he is good the entire week he will earn a bag og Goody Good Stuff for being so good!

BUY IT:  You can purchase a pack of twelve 3.5 ounce bags,  for 17.54 on Amazon.com

Glee Gum Giveaway *Closed*

I do not know any child that wouldnt love to make their own chewing gum,  gummies,   or chocolate!  My seven year old sons  face lit up with joy when I told him he was going to make his very own chocolate.  Thanks to Glee Gum who sent me a Make Your Own Chocolate Kit!  Glee Gum is a sweet site that offers Glee Gum and Make Your Own Candy Kits.  These innovative kits help educate your children while providing them with a fun experience.

These kits give children an opportunity to create something delicious while helping connect them to other cultures and communities.  They are available in three different kits:
  1. Gum Kit - Uses natural chicle.
  2. Chocolate Kit - Includes organic butter from Costa Rica.
  3. Gummy Kit - Contains  carrageenan made from seaweed from the Philippines.
Although my son loves chewing gum and gummies,  I thought the chocolate kit would win his heart, because chocolate always wins mine!  I don't know about you,  but I am a huge fan of any type of chocolate- no matter if it's milk,   dark,  or white chocolate!  This kit contains everything you will need to make 8 ounces of dark chocolate.  Did you know that chocolate originally came from Cocoa Beans which started out only in Central and South America?  The Aztecs told a legend that their god(Quetzalcoatl), brought the cocoa tree from paradise to earth,  and the people then added spices and learned how to roast and grind it's beans into a paste. They believed it brought wisdom and knowledge to anyone who drank it.

Each Glee Gum Chocolate making kit comes complete with:
  • Cocoa Butter
  • Confectioners Sugar
  • Paper Candy Liners
  • Temperature Indicator
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Starter Crystals
  • Whole Cocoa Beans
  • Instructions
  • The Story of Chocolate
He was super excited to get started,  so I instructed him to wash his hands, and then it was time to make chocolate!  Besides the ingredients included in the kit you will also need one quarter teaspoon of vanilla,  a wooden spoon or rubber spatula,  and a microwave safe bowl or a double broiler.  I do not own a double broiler,  so we obviously chose to melt the cocoa butter in the microwave.  It took about three minutes for the cocoa butter to completely melt.  My son then poured the confectioners sugar and cocoa powder into the bowl with the melted cocoa butter.  After that we placed the mixture back in the microwave and set it for 40 seconds.  Make sure you do not set it for longer than 40 seconds because the mixture could burn.

I then removed the backing from the temperature idicator and placed it on the outside of the bowl, toward the bottom.  I let my son stir the chocolate about twenty seconds every two to three minutes.  By doing this it helps keep the chocolate all the same temperature while cooling.  As soon as the temperature idicator read 94 degrees(with a green background),  we added the starter crystals.  We gave it all another mixing,  being sure to press lumps on the side of the mixing bowl,  and then bleded in 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla,  for a little extra flavor.  We then placed it in the cute little paper liners that were included in the kit.

Glee Gum suggests to get creative by adding ingredients such as nuts or marshmallows.  We did just that and added some chopped walnuts that I had on hand.  We refrigerated the mixture for about twenty minutes to let it cool.  My son anxiously pulled it out of the fridge,  and we cut it into bite size peices.  Then it was time to enjoy our delicious creation.  It tasted heavenly and really gave us a wonderful opportunity to spend qulaity time together.  I believe the chopped walnuts really enhanced the flavor of the dark chocolate.  These kits would be the perfect additon to any classroom,  birthday party,  at home, or any group activity.  You can purchase Glee Gum kits online at Glee Gum for only $13.00 or find a location near you.

Besides the candy making kits they also offer gum in six different satisfying flavors including:  Spearmint,  Peppermint,  Triple Berry,  BubbleGum Flavor,  Tangerine,  and Cinnamon.  The packaging is made from biodegradable recycled cardboard which makes it eco friendly!  Glee Gum does not contain any  preservatives,  artificial flavors,  artificial colors,  or artificial flavors.  They make it the old fashioned way by using chicle which helps conserve the rainforest.  Glee Gum is Gluten,  Dairy,  and Soy and Nut free! Each pack of Glee Gum contains 18 pieces per pack.  My favorite flavor is the Spearmint,  with the BubbleGum flavor coming in second.  I dont think my son had a favorite flavor because he seemed to like all of them!

Enstrom's Toffee

Sweet Treats Week- Review#6/Enstrom's Almond Toffee.
So I am not a huge fan of Toffee,  but I do usually like things spruced up.  That's exactly what Enstrom's Almond Toffee is...it's toffee spruced up with Almonds and Chocolate,  to make some of the best Toffee,  that you will ever taste!  Besides their world famous Almond Toffee,  they also offer Truffle Assortments,  Turtles, and Mint Meltaways.   They even have some Sugar Free  options.  If you are sending one of their items as a gift,  rest assured they have plenty of options including Gift Boxes,  Gift Baskets,  and Custom Message Sleeves.

Enstrom's carefully crafts each batch to ensure the up most quality and freshness.   If you are located in Colorado,   they have several retail stores open,  where you can find all of their fabulous products.  Enstrom's originally started as a family owned business,  that sold ice cream in 1929.  Chet(the owner) loved making candy,  and specialized in English Toffee.  In 1965 he finally opened up a store,  and business soon boomed.  Today,  each batch is handmade in their Grand Junction Company.

Enstrom's Almond Toffee  sent me a one pound box of their famous Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee to possibly review.  When it arrived it was wrapped in a pretty pearl white box.  The toffee arrived in perfect condition,  but contained a label on it that said to refrigerate,  so to the fridge it went!  After it had been in their long enough to cool down I took it out and immediately opened it up.  This isn't you average every day toffee,  this is much more!  The top contained a Almond  topping that was crushed  so finely,  it was almost like a powdery topping.  They also contained Almonds  throughout the Toffee,  but not too much.

As I bit into the toffee I noticed how extremely soft it is.  Usually Toffee is so hard and crunchy,  but Enstrom's Toffee is soft , and won't break your teeth.  Enstrom's Almond Toffee is all natural made with California Almonds,  Sweet Butter Cream,  and Pure Cane Sugar and then covered in a layer of Chocolate,  and then sprinkled with crushed Almonds.  They come in four different sizes:  1 LB.,  2 LB,  3LB,  and 5 LB ranging in price from $19.95 - $79.95.  They would make a great gift for anyone that loves toffee,  or even people that are not that fond of toffee,  as this toffee tastes unlike any other toffee you have ever tried!

Enstrom's Toffee is by far the best Toffee that I have ever tried before!  I was thinking it would come in a large piece that you would have to cut into smaller pieces,  but I was happily surprised when I saw they come in bark size pieces.  Each one pound box serves approximately 10 people, and contains two layers of Toffee.  To ensure your toffee stays fresh and does not melt,  it is best to store it in your freezer or refrigerator.  You may store it for 4 to 6 months in your freezer,  or 2 to three weeks in your refrigerator.  I definitely give Enstrom's Almond Toffee two thumbs of approval!
