I myself have experienced very many bad first dates,  but I would have to say the worst one was actually a blind date(over ten years ago).  I met him off an online site and he showed up to dinner wearing an outdated suit that looked like he purchased it from the goodwill.  He told me he had dinner covered,  so I didn't bring my purse,  which ended up being a bad idea because when we went to order he ordered us bread(it was free) and water( it was obviously free too), then when the waitor walked away he told me he couldn't afford to get us dinner.  Needless to say,  that was the last time I ever talked to him again or met anyone online again!

I am sure everyone know what today is,  one of  my kids favorite time of the year(well besides Christmas and their birthdays)!  I came upon the perfect plush animal online store,  just in time for the upcoming Halloween Trick or Treat Season!  Stuffless currently offers three spooky stuffed animals in the perfect styles for Halloween.  Now your probably wondering why they only offer three.  This is because they are a brand new company and their brand new toys just happen to be horror themed plush. 

Their 3 styles of plush include:

Now, I don't know if your into decorating,  but my mom use to always decorate for the holidays,  so of course I follow in her footsteps and decorate for my children too. I think the plush animals on Stuffless make a perfect decoration for Halloween.  Okay, so besides using them for decoration, they also make great pals for your little ones during the month of October( with the exception of Dead Ted Zombie Plush,  that one may creep out my little ones.  They make great plush to collect for Halloween or for fans of horror.  Each plush represents popular horror themes such as a zombie,  werewolf,  and a vampire.

Stuffless.com was kind enough to let me select an item to review.  I asked my husband which one to select and of course he chose Ded Ted Zombie,  but I wanted one more kid friendly,  so I chose Bram Poke-her Vampire Plush.  When it arrived I was surprised by how large it was,  standing at 19 inches tall,  although the largest is Wolfman Puck who stands 22.5 inches tall.  Bram Poke-her is full of amazing detail from his two fangs to his removable chain necklace.  He sports a nifty trench coat jacket complete with pockets,  and his hands come postioned in a high five postion.

It's that time again,  before we know it Halloween will be here!  Have you bought your costume yet?  What about your children's costumes?  If you haven't,   you should definitely check out  the Wholesale Costume Club.  No matter if your looking for a costume for yourself,  husband,  daughter,  or son,  they are sure to have one to suit everyone's needs. 

My oldest son want to be a Power Ranger this year,  so I went to the search box,  typed in "Power Rangers" and up popped 19 results!   Besides  Power Rangers they also offer some great kids Halloween costumes.

Next,  I decided to browse some of their women's costumes.  Check out this 80's themed costume.  It's bright colors so remind me of the 80's.  Not to mention the funky hair dos and side pony tails! 

My husband doesn't dress up for Halloween,  but if he was to wear a Halloween costume I think he may like the Men's Gangster Costume. 

I think it is important to really capture your personality in your costume,  and Wholesale Costume Club makes that happen by providing customers with a huge variety of styles.  I looked around their site their for quite a while  and I must admit I had a lot of fun costume shopping.  I decided to look in the toddler costumes section for a costume for my soon to be three year old son.  A lot of costumes caught my eye,  but none of them compared to the Mr. Potato Head themed costume.  I grew up on Mr. Potato Head and,  so have my kids,  so I couldn't have selected a better costume if I would have tried! 

Let me fill you in on a little bit of Mr. Potato Head history.  Let's just say Mr. Potato Head is quite the popular guy!  He was born in 1949 and has never gone out of style.  Believe me,  if you haven't owned a Mr. Potato Head sometime in your life,  than somethings missing from your childhood because every child should own one,  at one time or another.  Mr Potato Head has even stared as a character on Disney-Pixar Toy Story Series. 

I decided to try the costume on my son to see if it would fit well on him because I ordered it a little bit larger for his age.  He will be three in less than two months so I thought the Toddler size 3-4 would fit him best.  The Wholesale Costume Club also offers this particular costume in a size Small(4-6) for young children.  The costume fits him so well,  and I must say he looks like the cutest little Potato Head I have ever seen!  T

The Mr. Potato Head costume comes with detachable male eyes,  nose,  mustache,  and a mouth. The only thing I think this costume is lacking is a hat for Mr. Potato Head.  I plan on purchasing a hat to really set the costume off.  The design of the costume allows you to dress your child in clothing suitable for the cold weather while out trick or treating,  so your little will stay warm.  I predict he is going to get lots of compliments this year on his adorable costume. 

Guess what?  The Mr. Potato Head  costume can also be changed into Mrs. Potato Head!  Which leads me to  the best part about purchasing this costume - the costume has interchangeable parts.  That's right,  you can simply remove the Mr. Potato Head face and use the Velcro to attach the Mrs. Potato Head face and visor(or mix and match them). If you notice I changed the nose on the second photo,  just for fun!  Because it can be transformed into Mrs. Potato Head,  we will be able to pass it on to our lil niece for next Halloween,  lucky her!  Are you a little jealous because you wish they offered an adult Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head,  well no worries because they offer  those too!  Take a look around their site and I am sure you will find plenty of costumes that will catch your eye.

Fall Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

PUMPKIN PATCH FUN

With Fall here and Halloween right around the corner it's the perfect time to take the kids to the Pumpkin Patch.   Luckily for us,  we have pumpkin patches located just about everywhere so we have a lot of pumpkin patches to choose from.  We even have one that offers  food,  pumpkins,  arts & crafts, face painting,  and jump houses,  for one day all for FREE!  This year we decided to go to one we have never been before.  Originally,  we planned on going to a huge pumpkin patch but after our lil one fell asleep in the car we decided to go to a smaller pumpkin patch that is closer to our house. 

Awe, my lil man was so tired,  but he still enjoyed spending time at the pumpkin patch. We let him pick out his very own lil baby pumpkin(pictured above).

Visiting the pumpkin patch was totally free,  besides our pumpkins.  We got a pumpkin for each one of the kids ranging in size(depending on their age).  The kids had a ton of fun, we got some great pics and some memories to last a lifetime all for a few bucks.  If you haven't already,  you should definitely take your children to the pumpkin patch.  Its a must on your fall list of activities for your children. 

 

Smiley Cookies

Quite some time back I introduced you to a yummy cookie company by the name of Smiley Cookies.  I was lucky enough to review some of their Original Smiley Cookies,  but this time I had the lovely opportunity of reviewing their Halloween Smiley Cookies.   One bite of Smiley Cookies and you will definitely be smiling back at them!  The convenient online cookie company makes it possible to share a cookie with someone anywhere and for any reason,  even if the reason is just simply to say you are thinking of them!

I dont know what is!  I wanted to treat my boys,  so I gave them each a cookie,  and they immediatly started demolishing their cookies.  Before I knew it,  I had three orange icing smiley faces staring at me,  and it wasnt the cookies!   The cookies are a great way to reward your child,  treat them,  or reward yourself with a yummy little treat sure to put a smile on your face!  I think they would make a great addition to the menu at any party to serve as a Halloween Party Snack.

Halloween Ideas and Sites

If your like me and you have a house full of sick ones you will probably not wanna go out.  We will be spending Halloween carving jack-o-lanterns, sipping on hot apple cider and eating stew in a pumpkin.  If you are still not sure of what to do this Halloween, i have put together a list of ideas and helpful sites to visit.

1. Visit your local pumpkin patch and buy a large enough pumpkin to make stew in a pumpkin.  Both kids and adults love the idea of enjoying stew from a pumpkin.  It makes the perfect Halloween supper.  If you need the recipe it is located in one of my older posts.
2. Decorate your front door and hand out trick and treats to the trick or treaters.  Get creative, instead of candy you could hand out mini play dough or green filled Twinkies.
3. Go to a haunted house.
4. Find a local Church event to take your child to.  I did this  one year and the kids loved it.  Everything was totally free too!  They had different trick or treat stations that were all festively decorated.  Also lots of activities, games and prizes.
5. Visit http://www.wilton.com/ for the spookiest recipes such as there creepy crawly cake or check out there recipe for candy corn cheesecake.

Pumpkin Stew Recipe

This is a recipe that was passed down to me from my mother.  Every year we eagerly looked forward to having stew in a pumpkin.  We would grow our own pumpkins and then use them for decorations and one special one for the stew!  It became a tradition and it still is till this very day.  Kids and adults enjoy the thought of stew being served out of a pumpkin.  It makes a wonderful Halloween tradition so why not give it a whirl this October and see if your family loves it as much as mine.
PUMPKIN STEW
-2 lb. Beef Stew Meat                                  -2 tbsp. Oil
-1 1/2 Cup Water                                        -1 Lg. Onion, Chopped
-2 Cloves Garlic,Minced                              -2 Lg. Tomatoes,Chopped
-1tsp. Salt                                                    -1/2 Tsp. Pepper
-5 Potatoes,Peeled and Diced                      -2 Tbsp Butter, Melted
-1/4 Cup Dry Sherry                                    -1 Medium Pumpkin
-1(15 ounce Can Corn,Drained                      -1/2 Can Green Beans,Drained   
In a large pot,  brown the beef in oil.  Add the onions and garlic,  stirring until the onions are tender.  Add the tomatoes, salt,  pepper,  potatoes and water.  Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer while you prepare the pumpkin.
Remove top from the pumpkin and scoop out all the seeds and stringy fibers.  Make sure that you leave the pumpkin intact.  Brush inside of the pumpkin with butter. 
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.  Place pumpkin in a shallow pan.  Spoon mixture into the pumpkin shell.  Bake for one hour.  Stir sherry,  corn,  and green beans into stew and continue baking for 1/2 an hour to one hour longer.  Making sure to not overcook the pumpkin as it may become very soft and split.  Carefully remove the pumpkin form the oven and let it cool down a little.  Serve with salad and garlic bread...enjoy!

Wilton Halloween Cookie House Kit

Wilton is one of my favorite brands when it comes to kits and cake supplies, however; i was somewhat disappointed with this kit.  Either way i was still happy with the finished result!  The kit comes with 2 colors of icing, one black and one orange.  The Wilton Halloween kit comes pre- baked and pre-assembled but still requires allot of work.  There are 7 steps to follow to make your Halloween house.
1. Prepare your gingerbread
2.Prepare your icing
3.Prepare your icing bag.
4. Assemble the house
5. Attach the roof.
6. Let stand to dry
7. Decorate
The kit includes:

• 10 pre-baked Gingerbread house pieces                                                  
• 1 ghost icing decoration
• Purple and Orange mini round candies
• Jelly Beans
• Candy corn
• 2 Decorating tips
• 2 Decorating Bags
• Cardboard Base
• Orange and Black Icing
• Complete Assembly Directions

Go to http://wilton.com/  and you can access lots of cool ideas and recipes.  They sell this kit on their site for $16.49.I guess it is easier said than done because it took over 2 hours to complete.  I actually let it stand over night.  I had to carefully cut the pieces to match and that was a tough task.  The pieces did not measure up and it was difficult to keep the roof together.  The key to keeping the house together is all in the icing.  If your icing is not perfect then you will have a hard time getting pieces to stick together.  Overall i am satisfied with the way it turned out but i more than likely will not be purchasing this kit again.  I also used paint to help secure the house and decorate the windows.
